History

HERE this NOW was founded in the spring of 2017 by experienced school counselor, Emily Read Daniels. Through her work as a high school student assistance counselor, Daniels witnessed an increasing population of students living with ACEs (Adverse Child Experiences), paired with a woeful lack of awareness and resources. The result was classrooms heavy with kids unable to learn because of their frequent state of dysregulation, and teachers without the support and resources to manage the increasing stress of their job.

Daniels was desperate to bring the science of trauma to her school; however, the roadblocks and barriers she encountered revealed that there simply were not enough voices engaging educators in the conversation about the value and significance of the trauma-informed movement in schools. Recognizing the critical role of teachers as influencers in the trauma-informed movement, Daniels stepped away from her position as a student assistance counselor to be such a voice— and HERE this NOW was born.

Since then, HERE this NOW (HTN) has served thousands of clients through on-site and virtual professional development, keynote addresses, workshops, conferences, consultation, and coaching services. HTN has collaborated with known pioneers and thought-leaders in the trauma-informed movement; brilliant and incredibly cool people like Jim Sporleder, James Moffett, Lara Kain, Dr. Mona Delahooke, Dr. Stephen Porges, and many others.
