A 12-hour in-person professional development to enable schools and districts to build internal capacity for addressing educator burnout and student dysregulation.

This 2-day training, totaling 12-hours, is designed to provide participants a thorough understanding of the theories, practices, and tools of The Regulated Classroom©. Emphasis will be placed upon participants recognizing their own patterns of stress activation and release.

Participants will receive a certificate upon completion and training materials along with an Educator Self-Care Toolkit and 15 guidebooks to bring back to their school or district.  Paid for by the Maine Department of Education.  

Attendees are encouraged to return to their respective schools or organizations to train their colleagues in the 4 core practices and essential educator capacities of the approach.

All Educators should attend!

I learned so much from Emily and I was inspired. I, also, was delighted to find that various successful routines that I have done in the past are explained in this workshop. It really wasn't just luck. Many times I have been told "rest time - do kids need that?" Well the answer is yes and now I have some science to validate why! Definitely gives you perspective and new things to try!

I absolutely loved how engaging and fun this training was. I learned so much about myself and how our bodies work. Emily is so inspiring and knowledgable in her field. I can proudly say I am already implementing these techniques along with the kit in my classroom! Definitely the best training I have attended!

concerns

I did enjoy the training activities a lot. However, I am concerned about how this was rolled out. I didn't find any real guidance on how to train other staff, only to just try a few things out and hope that people ask me questions about it. I also do not agree with what seemed to be the philosophy of if the body is regulated the mind will regulate. I work in mental health, a lot of my individuals benefit immensely from top down approaches and not only bottom up. I find that if we don't ever challenge their thoughts, they fail quickly if they only have bottom up skills. The book has great tools though, and I do love all the activities and think they are great for classrooms. I just don't feel like this alone would do the trick. I would caution as well the overwhelm most people felt about the idea that about every fifteen minutes you should be doing an activity. Without a lot of support, I don't see many educators buying in to that.

I am going to be honest... I was a bit disappointed. There were things that I loved like the jelly balls, roller ball, but I was confused about the tea, and the essential oil. I thought we were going to have the items that were on the table during our sessions. The ability to play with the items ahead of time gave me the chance to pick the things I think would be more useful across our grade levels and in our setting. The books are an invaluable resource.
